CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) Disposal
CRT Disposal is currently £23.50 Inc V.A.T at 17.5% (please note we make no profit on this charge)
If Your set is under Warranty of Insurance cover this cost is paid by the manufacture of insurer.
As of the 16th of July 2005 the classification of a domestic or professional unit fitted with a CRT has been changed from Special Waste to Hazardous Waste.
Under this new classification these units now have to be disposed of under Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC) & Waste Electronic and Electrical Directive (WEEE) guide lines.
Under these new rules CRT units have to be recorded and disposed of under controlled conditions.
How will this effect you?
As of the 16th of July 2005 we will bring in a CRT Disposal charge, this charge is taken on all TV sets containing a CRT.
This includes both Counter and Field chargeable jobs.
If your set is repaired and required a new CRT you will have to pay the disposal of the old CRT (Under Health & Safety Regulations we are unable to return the old CRT for you to dispose of.)
If your set is beyond economical repair (you refuse an estimate) we will refund you CRT Disposal cost if you collect your set. If you wish us to dispose of your old set we would require it in writing under our normal estimate guidelines and you would not get a refund on the CRT disposal cost.
If your set is repaired and did not require a new CRT we would deduct the CRT disposal cost already taken from the final repair cost along with the estimate charge also taken. This then means that you do not pay for the estimate or CRT disposal.
As far as we are aware at this time there is no guidelines for domestic premises disposing of old CRT sets, you should contact your local Refuse site for disposal method.
