What makes a TV HD ready?
An HD ready TV must have HDMI or DVI connectivity in order to accept a digital signal from the HD receiving equipment, as well as an analogue Component (YpbPr) connection. It must also be able to handle the 720 or 1080 line formats.

1080 HD ready TVs.
The key difference with this standard is the screen resolution. The resolution
of 1920x1080 is currently the highest available, matching the highest broadcast
standard for HD. It is capable of showing a 1080 HD signal in its entirety,
requiring no scaling and reproducing the image pixel for pixel. This technology
will be fully exploited with the introduction of HD-DVD and Blu Ray when more
1080 HD content will become available.
